Starter Template - A beginners friend

Creating a custom map for your laser project has never been easier. With the Starter Template in Laser Map Maker, you can quickly generate a map with three essential layers: Water, Land, and Roads. Follow these simple steps to go from map creation to export in just a few minutes!

Step 1: Start with the Starter Template

When you create a new project in Laser Map Maker, choose the Starter Template. This template automatically generates a basic map with three layers: Water, Land, and Roads. It's a great starting point for most laser mapping projects.

Step 2: Use the Search Tool to Find Your Location

Use the search tool to find your desired location on the map. Simply type the name of the area or coordinates and the map will zoom in to your chosen spot.

Step 3: Adjust Your Map View

Once you've located your area, use the pan and zoom features to adjust the map to your liking. Whether you're focusing on a specific region or zooming out for a broader view, you have full control of the map's scale and focus.

Step 4: Export Your Map Layers

After you've positioned the map just how you want it, you’re ready to export. Simply click on the Preview ** **Export button, and then export from the Previewer. Laser Map Maker will generate separate files for each of the three layers:

• Water Layer
• Land Layer
• Roads Layer

Each layer will be automatically set to the correct export strategy (e.g., fill or outline) and defaulted to the SVG file format, ready for use in your laser project.

Step 5: Customize Further in the Studio

While the Starter Template provides a solid base, you can fully customize your map in the Studio. You have access to all the map tools, including:

• Layer editing: Adjust, add, or remove features from each layer.
• Aspect ratio and size settings: Perfect for adjusting your map to fit your project’s specifications.
• Map scale: Zoom in for more detail or zoom out for a broader view.
• Rotation and shapes: Fine-tune the map’s orientation and add custom shapes for more precision.
