Show/Hide a Layer
The left side panel in the studio is where you manage and organize your project layers. Each layer in the studio acts like a separate file, and when exported, they are saved individually in a zip folder. Layers help keep different map features organized, which is especially useful when preparing for tasks like laser cutting or engraving.
You can assign specific tasks to each physical layer. For example, you might have separate digital layers for land cuts and engravings, allowing you to run multiple jobs on the same physical layer like Engrave first, Cut second. You can also add borders to frame your map layers, ensuring the pieces stay cohesive after the laser cut jobs.
In the left panel, you can add, edit, or delete layers, and hide layers to work more efficiently on specific tasks. This structure helps keep your project organized and ensures each part is processed correctly.
How to Show or Hide a Layer in Studio
In the studio, managing which layers are visible at any given time is crucial for efficient workflow and focus. Whether you're working with complex maps or simply want to temporarily hide certain features, the studio allows you to quickly toggle the visibility of any layer. This helps you concentrate on specific tasks without distractions from other map features.
Here’s how to show or hide a layer with ease:
Step 1: Click the Three Dots Next to the Layer Name
On the left side panel, find the layer you want to show or hide. Click on the three vertical dots next to the layer name to open the options menu for that particular layer.
Step 2: Click the Eye Icon
From the menu, click on the Eye Icon. This will toggle the visibility of the entire layer, including all the features within that layer. When the eye icon is visible (open), the layer and its features will be displayed on the map. If the eye icon is crossed out (closed), the layer and its features will be hidden from view.
Note: Even if your layers are hidden, they will still export when you try and export. So if you want them gone permanently you would need to delete that layer.
Step 3: View Changes in Real-Time
Once you click the eye icon, you’ll see the changes immediately reflected in the map. If the layer is hidden, all elements associated with that layer, such as roads, contours, or labels, will disappear from the map. Conversely, when the layer is shown, all its features will become visible again.
Toggling the visibility of layers helps you work more efficiently, allowing you to focus on one aspect of your project without the clutter of other elements. This feature is particularly useful when working with detailed maps or multiple tasks, such as preparing for laser cutting or adding intricate designs.
By following these simple steps, you can easily show or hide any layer and its features, keeping your project organized and manageable as you work.
