Select All Features in Layer
The left side panel in the studio is where you manage and organize your project layers. Each layer in the studio acts like a separate file, and when exported, they are saved individually in a zip folder. Layers help keep different map features organized, which is especially useful when preparing for tasks like laser cutting or engraving.
You can assign specific tasks to each physical layer. For example, you might have separate digital layers for land cuts and engravings, allowing you to run multiple jobs on the same physical layer like Engrave first, Cut second. You can also add borders to frame your map layers, ensuring the pieces stay cohesive after the laser cut jobs.
In the left panel, you can add, edit, or delete layers, and hide layers to work more efficiently on specific tasks. This structure helps keep your project organized and ensures each part is processed correctly.
How to Select All Features in a Layer
When working on a layer with multiple features, it can be tedious to select each feature individually. The Studio provides a convenient tool to select all features within a specific layer at once, allowing you to apply actions like styling, locking, or deleting to the entire set of features.
Follow these steps to select all features within a layer:
Step 1: Click the Three Dots Next to the Layer Name
In the left side panel, find the layer that contains the features you want to select. Click on the three vertical dots next to the layer name to open the options menu for that layer.
Step 2: Click the Icon with the Checkmarks (Select All Features in Layer)
In the menu, click the icon with the checkmarks. This action will select all features within the layer. Once selected, the Studio will update the layer panel to show how many features have been selected. You’ll be able to see this number next to the layer name, helping you keep track of which features are included.
Step 3: Edit Features (If They Are the Same Type)
If all the selected features are of the same feature type (line, fill, text), you’ll be able to edit them collectively. This means you can apply changes such as styling, color adjustments, or transformations to all features at once. If the features are not the same type, the styling option will not be available.
However, you will still be able to use other options, such as:
- Locking the features
- Showing or hiding the features
- Deleting all the selected features
Step 4: Apply Actions or Make Changes
Once the features are selected, you can proceed with any of the available options. If you’re ready to make changes to the selected features, choose the desired action from the options in the Studio. For example, you can lock the features to prevent further edits, hide them for better focus, or delete them if they are no longer needed.
Selecting all features in a layer is a quick way to apply bulk actions and manage your project more efficiently. Whether you’re locking multiple features or deleting unnecessary ones, this feature streamlines your workflow and minimizes the need for repetitive actions.
