Deleting a Layer

The left side panel in the studio is where you manage and organize your project layers. Each layer in the studio acts like a separate file, and when exported, they are saved individually in a zip folder. Layers help keep different map features organized, which is especially useful when preparing for tasks like laser cutting or engraving.

You can assign specific tasks to each physical layer. For example, you might have separate digital layers for land cuts and engravings, allowing you to run multiple jobs on the same physical layer like Engrave first, Cut second. You can also add borders to frame your map layers, ensuring the pieces stay cohesive after the laser cut jobs.

In the left panel, you can add, edit, or delete layers, and hide layers to work more efficiently on specific tasks. This structure helps keep your project organized and ensures each part is processed correctly.

How to Delete a Layer in Studio

Occasionally, you may need to delete a layer in the studio if it is no longer needed or if you want to clean up your project. Deleting unused or redundant layers ensures your workspace remains organized and prevents unnecessary clutter. Follow these simple steps to delete a layer from your project:

Step 1: Click the Three Dots Next to the Layer Name

Click the three dots

On the left side panel, locate the layer you want to delete. Once you find the layer, click the three vertical dots next to the layer name to open the options menu for that layer.

Step 2: Select the Red Trash Can Icon

Click the trash can

From the menu that appears, click on the red Trash Can icon. This action will prompt a confirmation pop-up, ensuring you don’t accidentally delete a layer.

Step 3: Confirm Deletion with the "Delete Layer" Button

Confirm Delete Layer Button

In the confirmation pop-up, you'll be asked if you're sure you want to delete the selected layer. This is your final chance to ensure you’re not deleting something important. To confirm, click the Delete Layer button.

Once you confirm, the layer will be permanently deleted from your project. It will no longer appear in the left panel or be included in your final export.

By deleting unnecessary layers, you keep your project streamlined and free from excess clutter, making it easier to manage your map features and workflow. Be cautious when deleting layers, as this action cannot be undone.
