Adding a Layer
The left side panel in the studio is where you manage and organize your project layers. Each layer in the studio acts like a separate file, and when exported, they are saved individually in a zip folder. Layers help keep different map features organized, which is especially useful when preparing for tasks like laser cutting or engraving.
You can assign specific tasks to each physical layer. For example, you might have separate digital layers for land cuts and engravings, allowing you to run multiple jobs on the same physical layer like Engrave first, Cut second. You can also add borders to frame your map layers, ensuring the pieces stay cohesive after the laser cut jobs.
In the left panel, you can add, edit, or delete layers, and hide layers to work more efficiently on specific tasks. This structure helps keep your project organized and ensures each part is processed correctly.
How to Add a Layer and Map Features
Adding layers and map features in studio helps you stay organized and manage your project efficiently. Follow these simple steps to add a layer and map features to it:
Step 1: Click on the Add Layer Button
At the top of the left side panel, click the Add Layer button. This opens a pop-up to start adding a new layer.
Step 2: Name Your Layer
In the pop-up, give your new layer a meaningful name to help identify it later. Naming your layer ensures better organization, especially when working with multiple layers. We've named our layer Labels, since we will be adding some labels to this layer.
Step 3: Add Map Features
Next, add specific map features from the left side panel, such as roads, land contours, or other elements. Simply drag and drop the features into the new layer.
Step 4: Click Create Layer
After naming your layer and adding the desired features, click the Create Layer button at the bottom of the pop-up. This will finalize the addition of your layer to the project.
By following these steps, you can easily add and organize layers, ensuring that your map features are structured properly for export or laser processing.
